Why are people so ready to date in high school? When my boyfriend asked me out the first time I turned him down because I was so sure that once we started dating one of us would do something to hurt the other. I always feel like after I start dating someone I am just sitting there waiting for the break-up to happen. Most of the time I am so worried about breaking up that I forget to enjoy the relationship. I know a lot of girls who are afraid of falling for a boy and then getting their heart stomped on. I am one of those girls. I worry that if that if i am talking to another boy my significant other will think I am cheating on him. (Its happened before) High school is supposed to be fun but with all of the pressure from other teenagers about having a boyfriend its difficult to enjoy being there. Being in high school doesn't help what with all of the rumors and jealousy flying around the school. Some people start rumors just because they are mad that someone else is happy and they aren't. I've noticed that quite a few girls at my school are extremely desperate to be in a relationship but then as soon as they get in to one they start looking for a guy to cheat on their new boyfriend with. I don't understand why they would go out with a guy if they were just going to cheat on him. They need to realize that maybe the reason the boy asked them out is because he actually likes them. Boys have feelings too... Another thing I don't really understand is that here you cannot date. No one goes on dates, they are just "dating". I don't really think you can call it dating if you are just automatically boyfriend/girlfriend. The reason most relationships do not last is because the way to find out if you like someone is by asking them on a date, getting them alone, and learning who they really are. Most people act differently when they are around their friends than they do when they are alone with the person they like. I think that people have plenty of time to date after high school and should just enjoy being friends with people rather than boyfriend/girlfriend.
